Breathe, breathe, breathe…..Moving time is here!!!

DanielpassedoutPrepping for the big cross-country move…..it’s exhausting!

If you come to our house this week, it will look like we plan to stay another year. There are no boxes to be seen, and all of our stuff is still sitting in its regular old place. That’s the beauty of a military move. They actually send a team of “packers” to your house, and in 2 or 3 days every single item we own–minus candles and cleaning products–will be boxed up. Once it’s all packed up, they load it up on the truck, and this whole shabang will be packed up and shipped off in only five days.

Our packers arrive on Monday!!!!  Aughhh!!!  I can’t believe it! We are less than one week out!!!!

If none of the actual moving starts until Monday, why am I all in a tizzy??? Well, first of all, the anticipation–oh, it’s a killer–but really there is just way more involved than just packing and shipping.

There are endless service providers to book to prep this house for new tenants. This particular lease requires a chimney sweep, gutter cleaning, of course a house cleaning, plus a carpet cleaning. (Thankfully, I have a husband who knows I’m a phone-phobe, and he has handled all this for me!)

Oh, but the fun doesn’t end there. We have to make sure that all of our children are squared away with shots and dental cleanings because who knows how long it will be before we’re settled into our new place?

So guess what happened this week? Caleb had four cavities, Daniel started complaining that his ears hurt, my hay fever is out of control, and as of today, John David has a fever.

Nope, the fun just never stops. Tomorrow Caleb will be getting fillings. I took Dan to the doc yesterday, and he is okay. I’m living on Benadryl and Zyrtec and still wishing I could soak my eyeballs in ice water…that notion may be lost on you non-itchy eye allergy sufferers….and if JD has a sleepless night tonight, he will be whisked to the doctor tomorrow too.

Sleepless nights almost always mean ear infections around here!

Really, I should be in bed. Do I say that on every single post??

It’s a slightly inconvenient time for everyone to be sick, but I’m just thankful it’s not throw-up.

Okay, enough about moving. Here’s one cute kid quote:

Me: (spotting Caleb walking down the stairs) Caleb, did you finish your homework?

Caleb: *looks surprised* Yes.

Me: That’s so great, Caleb! Good job! That’s wonderful. Okay, I’m going to go check it.

Caleb: …..Oh, and I knew it so well that I just didn’t even write it down. I knew it SO WELL that I just left it all blank.

Me: :/

Me: (I laughed. How could I not?) Oh hahaha, Caleb. Get upstairs, and you are getting all of this finished right now.

Kids can be surprisingly wise….

Joshua, for the last few months, has taken to sleeping in the clothes that he plans to wear to school the next day. He says, “That way I don’t have to waste time in the morning getting dressed.”

Genius!

One last thought:

It never ceases to amaze me how different my 3rd child 3-year-old problems are. The first two were so innocent at 3. Daniel has two older brothers, so he has a lot more street smarts, and he’s very talented at picking on his brothers. Tonight he was just walking around saying, “Caweb stupid Caweb stupid Caweb stupid” just to get a great big rise out of Caleb. Classic, I know, but the other boys never did this.

Later I heard him working hard at tormenting Joshua with a similar tactic. I wish I could remember what he was saying that time. It was rather clever. Unfortunately, 2 Benadryls and a zyrtec have left me with very little brain activity.

So here’s a few cute kiddo pictures, to make up for my forgetting all the funny stories:

Daniel handed JD the yo-yo, and then he purposefully wrapped himself up in the string…..over and over again. A good time was had by all. 🙂

I will be praying for you this week! With the R.C.M.P thankfully we also have packers and movers. We did have one throwing up during one of our packing days…..I was FREAKED because you know when one of the four gets sick….it is just the beginning.haha. Our last move our oldest was graduating so in the middle of everything we blew in watched him get his certificate and blew out it can be so CRAZY!!! Him graduating was just a tick on our long list that day!!!

  • Oh wow you have one busy week ahead of you!! Thank goodness you do not have to pack up as well! Your stories are hilarious, my favorite the homework in his head one!! 🙂

  • I moved 20 times in my life. The first 10 or so, was because I had a military dad..

    • Yep, couldn’t they cut us some slack and let us put down a few roots? We try to focus on the adventure aspect, which is fun, but it would be nice to stay awhile sometimes.

  • Oh my gosh the yo-yo and the homework story are priceless. Hope everyone in the family gets to feeling better and all Dr’s appointments squared away.

Sorry about all the sickness. We will get medicine down them. Hopefully they wont need refills. The two babies playing with yoyo string makes me nervous! Keep an eye on that strangulation hazard! Thata just an old Nonna worrying! 🙂 As stressful as moves are, arent we thankful for packers and movers! Hang on just a few more days…

I love comments! Otherwise, it's really just me talkin' to myself...
