What are God’s promises in the hard times or even the hectic times?

“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”  Ephesians 6:16 You know that feeling when you wish you could get a do-over? Dear 2016, here’s my white flag. I would like to go back and try again, sort of like the chute right smack in the middle of Chutes and Ladders that takes you right back to start. I have learned an abundance of […]

Me Time? Or God Time? Juice, Or Milk?

Last night, I felt restless in my spirit. You know that sensation that you get when you have plenty to do, but you don’t WANT to do any of it? I had the need to get out. Some people call it “ME” time. I don’t call it “ME” time. I never found spending an hour pampering myself to be refreshing at all. However, I DO find a nice, long, not too slow, and not too fast, walk to work WONDERS. […]

Why I Don’t Blog About the News

Sometimes when it feels like the whole world is in an uproar, believe it or not, I DO find it hard to go on my blog and talk about what’s going on in our little bubble this week. I do read the news. My heart does go out to the suffering. We do teach our boys about the world they are growing up in. We do our best to look at all sides of each issue. This just felt like […]

This Scripture changed my week for the better.

I had several goals for 2015. The only one I’ve made much headway on was “study Jesus in 2015.” In fact, this week I came across a commentary, on Luke 8:16, that profoundly changed my thoughts! I have never been real big on reading commentaries or even the study notes in the several study Bibles that I own. In fact, Daniel ripped out so many of the first pages of my oldest study Bible, I don’t even know what version […]

The God of the Living, with the Queen of Bizzaro

Occasionally, I think about how bizarro some of my steeped-in-the-Bible thoughts may sound to my non-Christian friends that read this blog. Even more occasionally, I exercise! And today I did both! I went running, something that I used to LOVE, but never do anymore. Don’t you do the best thinking and praying when you are out walking or running? I certainly do. Before I went running, I was reading Matthew 22. That’s all part of my plan to study Jesus […]

Studying Jesus in 2015

Studying Jesus this year is something that has me just plum ecstatic! Last year I was in the Old Testament. I didn’t enjoy that much. I was like, “Oh yeah, I need to read my Bible today…” Some of the chapters were exciting, but once I hit Ezekiel, it wasn’t fun to me. I was just counting down the days until Matthew!!! Bible study has been a passion of mine since I was in middle school. I don’t like taking […]

This Year

Christmas vacation was exactly what I think I needed. It was so refreshing to spend time with our families. I was horribly selfish. I slept late every single morning. No, really. One day, I actually slept until 1:00pm. No kidding! I did almost no work at all. None. I sat on sofas, opened presents galore, drank copious amounts of flavored coffee and let other people chase J.D. around. You can’t pour sweet tea from a broken pitcher, and this Momma […]

Happy Martin Luther Day!!

October 31. It isn’t just Halloween–a very odd candy holiday in which perfectly happy, normal people throw skeleton decorations in their front yards. I don’t mean to be the Halloween Scrooge, but Halloween gets on my nerves. I passed a house yesterday with three fake tomb stones in the front yard. On the stones, the family had written the names of their children (living children).  Weird, ya’ll. I don’t care what holiday that is. It’s weird. As far as I’m […]

My Story of Faith

Like most bloggers, I like to check the statistics on my web site and review what things get read and what things don’t. As a general rule, whatever is on my home page gets read, and most of the tabs at the top don’t get referenced very often. Why do I care? I’m not making any money yet, but it’s still good to know. A while back, I typed out the story of how and why I have chosen this […]

Daily Life with an Eight-Month-Old

daily life with an eight-month-old

JD is now 8 months old and just as precious as ever.  Let’s talk babies! Just for the record: Joshua began cruising around furniture at 7 months and crawling at 9 months and walking at 12. Caleb wasn’t much of a cruiser until later, but I don’t remember!  I do remember that he didn’t crawl until 10 months, and he walked at 13 months. Also:  Caleb was the same height as JD but 4 pounds heavier……wowzers Daniel:  He became a […]
