What the Bible Says About Attitude

The most draining job I’ve ever had (not that I’ve had all that many different kinds of jobs!) is taking care of my own little children.

There is something WAY more exhausting to me about taking care of small children than taking care of the bigger ones.

To the bigger ones you can say things like this:

“Well, go pour yourself a drink then.”
“You may go get a snack from the pantry, but it has to be one you can get yourself.”  (I use that line a lot…)
“Everyone outside!’
“Everyone to the basement!”
“You have five minutes to get this done.”
“Thank you so much for helping with your brother.”

Yes, I also have to say things like:

“Freeze!  Caleb you go to your room, and Joshua you go downstairs.  No more fighting.”
“Why didn’t you do your homework like I told you to?”

…..and other such things, but even still it is not the same as life with babies.

With littles, every time they go to the bathroom, you must help them.
-Every time you go to the bathroom, they try to come with you.
-Everything they eat or drink must be fixed by you.
…You must constantly drop every thing you are doing to meet their needs.

This leaves me with a bad attitude a whole lot lately.

So today let’s focus on what the Bible says about having a GOOD ATTITUDE!  Let’s try, y’all!!!

1.)  A cheerful heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.
Psalm 17:22

2.) Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.
   Philippians 1:27

3.)  Do EVERYTHING without complaining or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.
 Philippians 2:14-15
4.)  I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
  Philippians 4:11

5.)  Better to live in a desert than live with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife.
 Proverbs 21:19
6.)  Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.  In everything set them an example by doing what is good.  In your teaching, show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
Titus 2:6-8

7.)  Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Colossians 3:12

Of course, this is just a drop in the bucket 🪣 of all the Bible has to say about having a good attitude. Crack open Psalms and Proverbs, and you will find plenty more!

  • I love that you are a Christian and you are using your blog to encourage others. Thank you for encouraging me with this great verse. I have a Caleb too. He has had 17 brain surgeries, cerebral palsy, and seizures. He is a twin. I wish now I would have named his twin Joshua. I love that name.
    Blessings,

    • Wow, this is an older comment, but somehow I just now re-found it and regret that I missed responding. Thank you so much. Our Calebs had a little in common, but thankfully our Caleb has not had surgery. Hope the twins are doing well now.
