“I feel….really happy…..and that’s a big deal, for me.” –Marlin on Finding Nemo
I just want you all to know (especially my family) that today I feel truly happy. This is probably the first time since we left Virginia that contentment and rest again reign in my heart. I can’t tell you exactly what made this summer so stressful for me. I know that I should always be thankful, as I have been extremely blessed in the life that I live. For some reason, all the changes going on in my life greatly challenged my spirit this summer.
There have been great moments all along: fun trips, wonderful sights, meeting new people, notes from friends that I left behind. Thank you all so much for keeping in touch with us! But outside of those moments, I was eaten alive with moving and home schooling anxiety. I haven’t really felt like myself since we pulled out of Virginia.
I still miss my friends. I still don’t know that many people. I still haven’t found a good grocery store close by. Could someone please tell me if Trader Joe’s is a regular grocery store? Do they sell milk, potatoes, bread, and fruit? If they don’t, then it’s a waste of my time.
However, I have made a few friends now: 5 of them to be exact. 🙂 Okay, one of them I don’t actually remember her name, but I like her so much, so can we count her anyway? Let’s. 😉 And there are lots of homeschool acquaintances that we will get to know better once Classical Conversations school starts on Monday.
The home school thing is getting much easier. Do you remember when I first had the fourth baby, and I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, and I wondered if that would EVER slow down? Well, it did. For a refresher of my crazy adjustment phase, see this post: This is reality
Juggling four children got easier, and I know that this job will too. This Ralph Waldo Emerson quote sums it up perfectly:
“That which we persist in doing becomes easier – not that the nature of the task has changed, but our ability to do has increased.”
Tonight I am at peace. (I’m sure this has nothing to do with the good night’s sleep I got last night. Thank you to all who prayed for me and my sleep problem baby!!)
I hope you are at peace as well.

Glad you are happy. Moving is never easy. We just moved ourselves. Trader Joes does have regular groceries too, I believe!
I love that quote by Emerson. It is SO true! Also, there was a Trader Joes in my hometown. They are a regular grocery store, however they carry a lot more specialty items and organic foods. They aren't usually the cheapest, but, they have great stuff! I'm so glad you are feeling more settled and getting some sleep!
You're right it is a lot more specialty items. I went. I bought a few yummy ones.....and some really gross soy ice cream bars.... Thank you! I had that one good night of sleep. Maybe tonight! Oh I hope!!
Congratulations!!! You are officially on the other side of your move!!! I so know that place. Enjoy. I have a friend who would bring great things back to Canada from Trader Joes so check it out!!!
Thanks! I certainly will!
What an encouragement! You made ME happy, too! :)
Yay!!!
Oh blessed peace! May it continue to reign in your heart even in the midst of chaos! And by all means, try Trader Joe's!
Thank you!! And I will!
