I like the idea of the Story of the World workbooks. I’ll have to look into those. I have the series already and I really like those. Halfahundredacrewood is an amazing site!
I agree planning is a serious task and feels great to be ahead of the game. I don’t know about you but I find my plans change throughout the year so my planning never seems to end 🙂

If you’re looking for things that are engaging, you can also try historychannel.com and playfullearning.com. Also, youtube even has some incredibly engaging videos made by history teachers for the elementary age group, although you will definitely want to preview all of those in advance (lesson learned there). The old School House Rock videos are all on youtube also. 🙂
