You may be tempted to think, “How can you live in California and not be utterly happy all the time from these incredibly beautiful surroundings?”
Good question.
The unfortunate thing is that I don’t actually live on the beach and see these sights every single day. In fact, I pretty much forget they are there until company comes and we show them around. Most destinations are too hazardous to take on with two pre-schoolers, seeing as how I’d like to keep them all alive, and I have the hip problem. Pity. So I wait until I have other adults to go with us to these lovely places, and once I finally make it out there, I am reminded that it does indeed have healing powers.
Fresh air. Sunshine. Water. Wind. Oxygen. Green. It’s life-giving. How can I get out there more often?? I desperately need to do so. I don’t think our Creator ever meant for us to toil our days away, all shut up in our houses all the time. He put the first people in a garden, right? A perfect garden with no briars or thorns even. No sin. No clothes. Ha! Now there’s a picture….

Nature tends to disorder, and that can have its own magnificence, but well-tended gardens are a testament to the things that we can do with what we have been given.

Oh I want to visit! Like this summer when it is going to be a million degrees here! It is easy to forget though about the beauty of where you live. Sometimes I don't remember that until guests arrive and we go "touristing" together.
Gorgeous photos! I live in Florida and we are the same way. We don't usually go to the beach unless we have company come in, and that's usually where we go! Hope you have a wonderful weekend :)
Carmel is a place I never visited. Shame on me!
So New England has this thing where you say, "The horrible winters make me appreciate the better days." We all sort of suffer, whether in winter or spring.
Well Cassidy used to say, "No way. I lived in California and appreciated EVERY good day there." It was true. The epic scenery. The winding roads. The fact that it rained twice in my first year there. Twice. It already rained here six times this week.
And so, I get it though. I didn't always see everything beautiful around me... because.. daily life. When I had tourists in, then we did. And this was before kids and we only have two. So I get you!
That looks amazing! I always feel so much better too when we get outside and explore nature.
Donna took a photo of some lady and her husband, and then this lady took the photo of Donna and me. Nice exchange, huh?! I'm still enjoying seeing all the pictures. Monterey is a beautiful place, and I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The ocean was spectacular, the waves (and wind) incredibly powerful, and the flowers beautiful, too!
Fabulous pictures. Monterrey is beautiful. Who took the pictures of Aunt Janet and Nonna? Whoever did is not a bad photographer either - those look great! They should definitely make those their new profile pictures. Also, stupid question - what exactly is a mission?
