The Baby Weight Plateau

the baby weight plateau

practicing his back-to-belly-roll….He almost has it!   Now you probably think I’m talking about my weight plateau…..ha! I have hit one too, but I’m actually referring to the baby!!!   We call him JD now, most of the time, and we named him with that in mind.  John David can be a mouthful.  Daniel just calls him “David,” and it sounds so CUTE when Dan says it.   John David finally had his “6 month” well baby visit this past […]

Babies have their own personalities.

JD is so sick he just threw up a bunch of mucus and lunch…all over me, of course…..but look.  The boy still smiles.  Sweet.  Sweet.  Sweet. Sweet, sweetness!!   The bigger JD gets the less he reminds me of Joshua, in the face, and more of Daniel.  He has one great distinguishing characteristic though:  dimples on BOTH cheeks.  Oh, he will be popular with the ladies I think!    The best thing about John David though isn’t his looks:   […]

John David: 6 Months

Joshua, Caleb, Daniel, and John David all at 6 months old   Somewhere during that whole Christmas schmorgasborg,  John David turned 6 months old!  Oh, he is such a SWEET, sweet, sweet little thing.  I would say he favors his brothers, wouldn’t you??   I was so excited to finally figure out how to make that collage!  I learned about picmonkey.com from a fellow blogger:  www.doofydizee.com.  Her name keeps coming up on here!  I promise I’m not stalking you, Di!  She […]

The Baby!

We just love our 19 pound 4 month old.  He is just a great big ball of kissable goodness.  Unfortunately, our kissable bundle suddenly decided to stop sleeping through the night two weeks ago. He also caught a cold two weeks ago, a cold that isn’t getting any better.  His nose is still runny, runny, runny.  He’s been to the doc twice.  They can’t do anything for him.    Yes, I got a big bulb sucker, and I use […]

The World of a 4 month old

Our little John David, 4 months old! …and big boy, sitting up shot He has a dimple in each cheek, and I just love that! Welcome to the world of a 4 month old!    When Aunt Amy and Uncle Greg visited, Wesley was 4 months old, and he seemed so big to me…..compared to our 4 week old!!  That’s so funny because now that I’m at the four month mark too, it still seems so small. Cousin Wesley at […]

My Week of Staying at Home

Youch!   If you’ve been reading this blog any at all, since the baby arrived, then you know that I am currently pretty stressed out.  That’s right.  Life is giving me a good ol’ fashioned butt whoopin’!    We have hired a little help.  We have cut back on activities.  We’ve made list after list.  You name it, we’ve probably tried it.  Yet we are still just treading water over here.    So I decided that this week I am […]

“A short phase of long days”

Looks like the swaddling days are coming to a close.  It’s an important game to him, though.  He insists (via crying) that I swaddle him, or he won’t go to sleep.  As soon as I leave the room, he pulls his arms out, but he gets mad if I pull them out for him.  ….So I guess it doesn’t hurt anything if I always swaddle him loosely enough for him to escape? Things I’ve heard around our house: Caleb:  Hey, […]

My First Baby: Joshua’s Birth Story

In the interest of documenting all four of my “birth stories.”  This is the story of my very first baby. Joshua’s delivery was my most normal, uncomplicated labor and delivery of all.  He was also the only one that was not induced.  I got to go into labor, on my own, three days before my due date.  That was truly an exciting experience.    I can’t help but wonder if his labor and delivery was my most successful because it […]

John David Bobby: 2 months

2 months old

2 months!   Somehow, in the midst of two million diaper changes, endless hours of breastfeeding, pacifier training (this is where you teach the baby to love a “paci”), anemia, isolation from the world, sleep deprivation, and even the return to sleeping normally, John David Bobby has turned 2 months old.  2 months old!    I have said before, “I feel like I keep having this same baby.”  It’s really true.  They have all been so much alike.  Some have […]
