This Christmas: 1st Year at Home, 1st Non Disaster Story

This might have been the easiest Christmas in 14 years of April and Alan family Christmases. We only had to travel two hours, and we woke up on Christmas morning IN OUR OWN HOUSE. Have you ever??? I mean, we had almost never!! Do you do this? Do other people do this every year??  It was so nice! I mean have you read my other Christmas stories??? Our Nightmare Before Christmas The Funeral, Christmas Trip New Years in San Francisco […]

The Adorable Singing Daniel

I spent all of my computer time house-shopping on the internet. Still didn’t decide on anything. So today let’s just let Daniel entertain us. Here are three ridiculously adorable videos of Daniel singing. He gave us an impromptu after-church concert, and Janet filmed it. He made up the words as he went along, and this may be the best home video we have ever made. Each one is different, short, and equally cute, so you gotta watch all three! Sing […]

10 Things to Try When You’re Feeling Achy

Have you ever felt old before your time or just achy all over the place?  I keep wondering. Is this just getting older? Or is this a problem that can be fixed? And how do you know which is which? Several of my readers liked the video with the stretching tips for hip pain, so today I’m including a stretching video for heel/foot pain and swelling. This is another nuisance that I deal with that I think is […]

Our Very Own Big Blue Live: Whale Video

So this weekend our Classical Conversations group got together for a beach bonfire over in Monterey Bay. PBS and BBC are also in Monterey filming Big Blue Live, which hits t.v. Monday, August 30. You can bet we will be watching. They are here to film the incredible wildlife that is in the bay this time of year. Can you imagine our excitement when a humpback WHALE decided to join our bonfire and provide the evening’s entertainment? My friend Amy […]

Home Schooling 4 Boys: So Much Work, But So Fulfilling

Home Schooling 4 Boys: So Much Work, But So Fulfilling

He takes about 10 steps a day, but he still crawls most of the time. Apparently JD is a gradual, gradual, gradual learner. 🙂 My life is seriously adorable at the moment, and I am so thankful. It is a TON of work though. We bust our rears on this whole parenting gig. We were hoping to go to Moss Landing today and check out the whales. But not so fast. My friend Sarah found a used fence for sale […]

About John Smith: “Him died. Dead. Dead. Dead”

These videos crack me up. It’s just so Daniel. He’s “reading” a book about John Smith, the best leader that the Jamestown settlement had. He kept focusing on the photo of John Smith, wounded in the Indian camp. Daniel read it as, “Him dead. Him died. meh meh meh meh meh….” Perhaps a lot of what I say to Daniel is simply translated as something from Charlie Brown’s teacher. To get the full story, you ‘gotta’ watch both movies! 😉 […]

On the Outside Looking In

On the outside looking in, we have had an amazing week: That’s us at a Washington Nationals game on Memorial Day. We love baseball games, and that was really fun. Plus, we’ve gotten to see some wonderful friends this week. Thanks for having us over, Pastor and Terri!!! Their dog is probably still recovering from what Daniel seemed to think was their ‘play date.’ Poor Annie. So good things have happened, and a few crummy things have happened, but nothing […]

Dan’s version of “Let it Go”

Welcome!!!! I’m almost finished converting to WordPress for blog hosting and the new name!!! That’s really the whole reason I’m doing all of this was to get my own name and drop the whole “blogspot.com” bit.  I definitely like this better! I will have the pages at the top all finished up soon. Meanwhile, I want to say THANK YOU for following me from the old web address to the new one.  Pretty please, pause a moment and leave yourself […]

The Baby Weight Plateau

the baby weight plateau

practicing his back-to-belly-roll….He almost has it!   Now you probably think I’m talking about my weight plateau…..ha! I have hit one too, but I’m actually referring to the baby!!!   We call him JD now, most of the time, and we named him with that in mind.  John David can be a mouthful.  Daniel just calls him “David,” and it sounds so CUTE when Dan says it.   John David finally had his “6 month” well baby visit this past […]

This One’s For the Grandparents : )

Daniel meets John David Today I’m uploading lots of videos of our children that will probably only be interesting to the grandparents.  This one’s for you, Granddaddy, Nana, DaddyO, Nonna, Granddaddy and Grandma Cunningham!!  : ) Dan loves babies. Dan loves baseball. John David was VERY sleepy after having his first bath at home.  He did not enjoy the bath.  For little ones with a cord, they cannot be submerged in bath water.  They hate being cool, so it is […]
