The Summer of No Video Games

summer of no video games

In our modern age, we have developed a word I don’t quite recall from my own childhood:  playdates.  We always had lots of friends over to play, but they were usually impromptu occurrences whenever we’d be driving our own parents crazy inside, so they would say, “Go outside and play,” at which time we would run into all neighborhood kids that had also been kicked outside.  : ) This still happens, of course, and we are fortunate enough to have […]

John David

**30 Days Left!**   This is the first time I have been 8 months pregnant with three children, and let me tell ya…..it’s exhausting.  Sometimes people ask me if I have trouble sleeping at night, being this far along.  I can honestly say that just doing my job is so exhausting that sleep is something that comes super easily!    The GREAT news is that I am finally WELL!  Hallelujah!  No sinus infections, no pulled muscles, all is well.   […]

Finally! A Better Day!

Look at this cute picture I got in the mail from the marriage retreat!  This was Alan and me, 3 months ago.  I was 5 months pregnant in this picture.  Looking at it now, I can’t believe how big I thought I was.  How ridiculous.  I was tiny.  You can’t even tell I was pregnant.  …..Now, at 8 months, things are much different.  When I am 8 months pregnant, it always feels as though I will never ever be small […]

Antibiotics

Have any of you noticed what a controversial word antibiotics has become?  What with all the super-bacteria popping up that we don’t have antibiotics strong enough to tackle, people are starting to run scared from “unnecessary” antibiotics.  The thought there is that if you take them too much, they won’t work when your body really needs them.   When I was a kid, it seemed like we took them every time we got sick.  Nowadays, that couldn’t be further […]

Third Trimester Lifesaver!!!

I am happy to report that I am feeling soooooo much better today!  Pregnancy is weird like that.  I do have a cold now, and if I talk too much, my voice stops working, BUT no uterine/cervical pain + not too much contraction activity + no hip pain = much happier, easier to be with April!!!!   I called my doctor’s office about my aching belly yesterday because I was hurting all over, plus having Braxton Hicks contractions constantly.  They had […]

The Boat, The Family, and The Achy Belly

We did finally get to take the boat we bought two weeks ago out on the water this afternoon.  Everything worked perfectly, and it was really exciting for the boys, well for all of us.   I was feeling so much better for most of the day.  I taught my Sunday School class, etc. etc. with no problems.  But after going out on the boat and then putting Daniel to bed, the good feelings were gone.  Something just doesn’t […]

Finally Friday! Not a Moment Too Soon!

Daniel, watching the Nats vs. Pirates game.  He was copying the way the runners slid to the base….over and over again, which we thought was just adorable!    Roll Tide, ya’ll!!!  It is finally Friday!!  Boy, could I use a weekend.  Naturally, this weekend will be jam packed with activities, but the psychology of it all is half the battle, right?   ******Pregnancy Update*******   This is my 33rd week of pregnancy (which means I am 32 weeks pregnant), […]

MisAdventures at 32 Weeks Pregnant …..Embarrassments and Getting Stuck in a Window

What an unbelievable day we had! Hilarious pregnant-lady-stuck-in window story

What. a. morning. Before I tell you this, you must first envision me 32 weeks pregnant.  Okay, it looks a little like this: and that was actually a couple of weeks ago…. So each day is something of a work out anyway, but this morning was……..especially special…. 1st the walk to school was a little rough due to constant false labor contractions.  Don’t worry, they don’t really hurt, and once I quit walking they were gone. It was “walk […]

The Importance of The Day of Rest

Sunday is the Lord’s Day here at our house. This is the day that we go to church, and ideally this is also the day we finally get some quiet rest at home.  Isn’t it annoying when organizations try to take that restful day away from you with ideas of work you can do instead??  Bleh.  I was afraid this was going to be one of those kind of Sundays, as both Alan and I had meetings to attend at church, […]
