Breathe, breathe, breathe…..Moving time is here!!!

Prepping for the big cross-country move…..it’s exhausting! If you come to our house this week, it will look like we plan to stay another year. There are no boxes to be seen, and all of our stuff is still sitting in its regular old place. That’s the beauty of a military move. They actually send a team of “packers” to your house, and in 2 or 3 days every single item we own–minus candles and cleaning products–will be boxed up. […]

“No! Me love Daddy!”

What’s been going on with us lately….. If you NEED a chuckle today, watch this video of Daniel: Alan: He has been hard at work getting everything wrapped up for the move. He has made sure we have a house lined up to move into when we get there. There is SO MUCH planning that goes into a cross country move. Meanwhile, he’s been handing over his current responsibilities at work, signing out of his current post, lining up the […]

The 11th Park Tribe: The Archaeologists

“Bring on the summer,” they say. This group of boys is so adorable, and this is just a few. There’s really a whole slew of them, ranging in age from 3 (Dan included) to 10. They gather at our local park after school, and yes, there are girls in the group as well. A few of the kids have recently begun migrating into the backyard of a friend of ours, that happens to have this hammock and a really cool […]

Mom’s Night Out: Movie Review

Last night Alan and I booked a babysitter and went to see the new movie “Mom’s Night Out.” Thankfully, MY night out was a lot less eventful/stressful than the one you will watch in the movie. This was a seriously cute, wholesome, sometimes funny, sometimes tear-jerker movie. It was produced by a Christian film company, and stars several unknown actors, but also has Patricia Heaton and Trace Atkins, which is also awesome. Actually, some of the other actors looked […]

Why Daniel Will Never Be “in Charge” Again

We found this the other day.  Hey, he fully understands what to do with shaving cream, I will say that for him. Just for the record:  I was out walking, and I left Alan in charge, so this one wasn’t my fault. Speaking of ‘in charge’, I will never, ever leave Daniel “in charge” again. I often tell Joshua or Caleb they are ‘in charge’ of the others while I take a shower or run outside to check the […]

Charitable Chicken and Other Little Tales

Lots of little things are going on here in the House of Many Little Men…. This is the thing I’m most excited about:  JD is getting ready to take off.  Each day he finds his way onto his hands and knees just a little bit more. He is also SERIOUS about his “standing practice.”  He just loves to be on his feet.  He’s extremely unsteady when you walk him, and yet the boy will randomly just let go of your […]

Hilarious Mom Story: Taking 4 Boys to the Pinewood Derby

hilarious mom stories

Today you get to laugh at my misery.  I have a hilarious mom story for you. Before the “mommy brain” kicks in and I forget, I must share this quote that I am still smiling about: This morning I put JD in his high chair and began prepping his breakfast.  (He is much easier to feed now than he used to be.  It turns out that he will eat ANYTHING if you mix it with applesauce.) Daniel LOVES to feed the […]

I hate the pressure of Christmas.

hilarious wrapping job

I love Christmas.  Nothing makes me more happy than arranging Christmas decorations, baking cookies, taking road trips with the kids, and shopping in crowded malls! Wait. That’s not true.  No, I don’t.  No, I really really don’t.     Not once this year have I said any of those things.    Okay, so yeah, I’m a bit of a Scrooge.  I hate the pressure of Christmas. –Crowded malls make me hot, like literally sweaty. I get overwhelmed and confused by […]

What a week we have had: Toddler mom Stories

This past week was a seriously crazy one.   Monday: We drove into the city for  Daniel’s “My ears hurt” doc appointment.  It turned out his ears were totally fine.  If only I knew how to check for ear infections!  I could spare myself so many doc appointments!   Then we came home, picked up Joshua from half day school, and stayed home until Monday night Yoga class.   I squeezed in laundry and household chores where I could. […]

I Love Being a Boy Mom and This is Why

I love being a boy mom and this is why.

I mean really there are a billion reasons why I LOVE being a boy mom, and I cannot list them all. But I am going to do my best to paint a picture of this life and how fun it can be. People often laugh when I tell them that I have four boys. Actually, I laugh when I really think about it!  And still people constantly ask me if I’m going to “try for that girl”.  Well, the answer […]
