My LAST doctor visit

Today was my very last doctor visit of this pregnancy.  Wow!  I am 38 weeks and 2 days.  So you may be wondering if I had dilated, effaced, etc.  The answer is….I don’t know.  No one checked me.  I guess it’s different when you’re having a c-section.  I left the house at 8:20 this morning, and I just now got home at 4:15.  My blood pressure and heart rate were so high this morning that they retook it a […]

Quotes and Such

Today I was at the Walmart check-out line, beginning to consider buying a Kit-Kat bar…..when suddenly I heard from behind me, “Excuse me.  Are you having twins?”     : /     I turned around to see a little old lady, and there was really no where to run and hide, and yet my ability to smile at such suggestions has just left me completely.  I told her, with no smile whatsoever, “No.  I am just at […]

Braxton-Hicks Contractions: Friend or Foe?

At the end of each one of my pregnancies, something common to many expecting mothers begins to occur:  “Braxton Hicks” contractions.  I can never decide if they are a good thing or a bad thing.  See the problem is that they are too easily mistaken for the real deal!!!  I have had one bum trip to the ER with every single baby.  Ridiculous, I know!   I REFUSE to fall for it this time, Hicks!  I don’t […]

National Donut Day

Did you know that TODAY is National Donut Day???  I never even knew there was such a thing, but I decided this was definitely a holiday worthy of recognition by our little clan here.  Alan must have thought so too, but don’t worry, boys, I’m going to replace those stale grocery store glazed ones Daddy bought with Krispy Kreme, chocolate covered…just as soon as school gets out!  ; )  (Everybody loves the pregnant version of April.  Alan will be […]

Feeling Positive

A cheerful heart is good medicine.  Proverbs 17:22 That’s actually me in 2005, pregnant with Joshua.  : )    I’m in an awfully good mood today.  Can you guess why?   My cleaning lady started today.  Her name is Betty, and she knows how to use my fancy pants Kirby vacuum cleaner better than anything I’ve ever seen!  My house smells like lemons, there is nothing in the floor, there are no tiny finger prints–and NO tongue lickings– on the […]

Can I be done now??

As of today, I have 14 days left of being pregnant.  The average baby at this point weighs 7 lbs.  I figure that means that my baby weighs 8…..just going off past experience and the opinion of the general public, who all seem to think I’m the largest pregnant woman that ever walked.   I couldn’t remember at what point it is that you reach the feeling of complete misery, where it’s hard to even get out of your […]

My Very Last Baby Shower

Betsy, Elisabeth, and Margret at my baby shower on Sunday    As I was walking Joshua home from his very first day of kindergarten last year, I happened upon a smiling, thin mother of four named Cassie.  She was so sweet as to introduce herself (turns out she lives only 3-4 houses down from me) and invite me over to sit with the other moms at the park.  She said they gather there […]

Pre-Birth Jitters: Too Excited to Sleep at Night!

pre-birth jitters

***Too Excited to Sleep*** I have the worse pre-birth jitters ever!!! This is so crazy and ridiculous, but for about a week now I have been too excited to go to sleep at night!! I’ve been having to take naps when Dan does in order to finish out my day, but then when it’s time to go to bed, forget it.  I’m not uncomfortable.  I’m not one of these that makes constant trips to the facilities. I just lie there […]

Carrying my Watermelon

Alan took the day off today.  I’m really glad he did.  I have three weeks left until I give birth, and it was WONDERFUL to not have to take Daniel with me to the grocery store!!!  I tried to buy enough groceries to make it my last big grocery trip while pregnant.  You should see me, 8 months pregnant, pushing 2 buggies full of groceries through the grocery store.   At least this week I didn’t have to stop […]

My first C-Section: Daniel’s Birth Story

holding Daniel the very first time.  I was so happy to finally see my baby, as it had been a few hours since the birth.  But I was in SO much pain, and my head was so fuzzy from the morphine that I was still rather out of it.  (And oh, yeah with 2/3 of my deliveries, I swelled really bad, as you can see in my face.  What’s up with that?  My blood pressure was not high–you can see […]
