Finally Friday! Not a Moment Too Soon!

Daniel, watching the Nats vs. Pirates game.  He was copying the way the runners slid to the base….over and over again, which we thought was just adorable!    Roll Tide, ya’ll!!!  It is finally Friday!!  Boy, could I use a weekend.  Naturally, this weekend will be jam packed with activities, but the psychology of it all is half the battle, right?   ******Pregnancy Update*******   This is my 33rd week of pregnancy (which means I am 32 weeks pregnant), […]

MisAdventures at 32 Weeks Pregnant …..Embarrassments and Getting Stuck in a Window

What an unbelievable day we had! Hilarious pregnant-lady-stuck-in window story

What. a. morning. Before I tell you this, you must first envision me 32 weeks pregnant.  Okay, it looks a little like this: and that was actually a couple of weeks ago…. So each day is something of a work out anyway, but this morning was……..especially special…. 1st the walk to school was a little rough due to constant false labor contractions.  Don’t worry, they don’t really hurt, and once I quit walking they were gone. It was “walk […]

The Importance of The Day of Rest

Sunday is the Lord’s Day here at our house. This is the day that we go to church, and ideally this is also the day we finally get some quiet rest at home.  Isn’t it annoying when organizations try to take that restful day away from you with ideas of work you can do instead??  Bleh.  I was afraid this was going to be one of those kind of Sundays, as both Alan and I had meetings to attend at church, […]

Full Review of the Large Family Logistics book

How cute is my most willing little helper!?         I have mentioned before that my favorite parenting book is Large Family Logistics.   *When you purchase through Amazon ads on this site, I do collect advertising fees. Small ones.* Two things I like most about Large Family Logistics: This book is no longer in print. However, Kim Brenneman wrote an updated version that will help you just as much: Home Management Plain and Simple   1.)  It serves […]

Pregnancy Brain and Bump Comments

Pregnancy Brain: It is true that your brain cells compress during pregnancy.  They straighten back out a few months after delivery.  I kid you not.  Google it.   Anyway, I had a pregnancy brain incident yesterday.  At the usual time to get the boys I shook myself from my nap, woke Daniel up from his nap, and set off, a little late, to pick the boys up from school.   Once I arrived at the walker’s pick-up area, I was […]

Baby News and Info on Shoulder Dystocia

Today Alan went with me to my ob/gyn appointment.  All is set for a June 19th c-section.  My doctor was able to look it up and tell me which doctor would be doing my surgery, and we set up my next appointment with him so that I can meet him before the delivery.  He has the longest service record of any soldier serving in the Army.  JD will be delivered by the man who cuts the Army birthday cake each […]

Confessions of a PTA Slacker

So this week has been a milestone in my life.  My friend, Margret, is in charge of “Staff Appreciation Week” at our kids’ school.  A few months ago Margret told me a little about this PTA sponsored project and said that she didn’t really have a committee of people to help her.  I thought I’d try to be a good friend and offer my assistance, and that is how I got introduced to the world of PTA. You know what? […]

30 weeks

29 weeks and 2 days in this photo.  It literally looks like someone stuffed a soccer ball under my shirt. Week 29-30 was not too good to me.  Our whole family got this horrible cold, and I have coughed SO HARD that I have actually hurt one of my ribs.  I just hold my thumb over the offended spot whenever I have to cough.   Caleb has now had it for two weeks and the so-called doctor (I think […]

Daniel’s New Interest

Here’s Dan, holding one of his toy airplanes and watching the planes take off.  He was also really excited about wearing his new (handed down from two brothers, of course) sandals.  That’s right.  I FINALLY got all the winter clothes out of the closets yesterday and pulled out all the spring/summer stuff. We’ve recently noticed that Daniel carries airplane toys around the house.  He also gets excited when he sees an airplane or a helicopter flying.  This is our first […]

Thing #2: Caleb’s Birth Story

Caleb and me, about 2 days after his delivery.  I was 26. Caleb:  9 lb 9oz, 21.5 inches.  He was my largest newborn, and he has remained the largest at each age ever since.  He can now share clothes with Joshua, who is 20 months older than Caleb. **Caleb’s Birth Story**   originally written in my journal:  Fri., June 29, 2007 Yay!  Caleb is here! I checked into the hospital around 12:30am Wednesday for my scheduled pitocin induction of labor. […]
